Resolution Road

Happy New Year! It’s wonderful to ring in a new year, 2022, may this year be the one we find our way through the pandemic together.

As with the beginning of every year, I set some goals for myself. Generally speaking, I prefer to write down goals and not set resolutions. Resolutions are riddled with self disappointment for me. What happens when I miss a day or eat a doughnut or whatever the case may be? With resolutions, when I falter I tend to walk away

Goals are completely different, right from the start, the word is more positive. A goal is something you are striving to achieve, working towards, hoping to reach one day in the future. It’s filled with opportunity instead of dread.

I tend to start with lists. Bubble journals can be wonderful for just this. Make it fun, use color pencils, add pictures from magazines or the web. Make it your vision board journal. There is just something wonderful about checking off items from a list, look at all I have achieved!

In the immortal words of Yoda “There is no try, just do”. Even if it’s just a small contribution to your goals, you made a step in the right direction. Don’t underestimate the power of small moves and celebrate them, your making stuff happen. Break those goals into smaller pieces and you’ll be amazed at what you are achieving.

So let’s push those resolutions aside and make way for some goals. Celebrate your wins and bullet journal the obstacles. Put aside some time every day for contemplating your journey, just ten minutes to recenter those goals and in no time at all your making things happen for you.
