A Day at the Philadelphia Flower Show

Going to the Philadelphia Flower Show? I would highly recommend, it is a wonderful way to spend the day. One of the biggest flower shows I have been too, the displays are epic in size and jam packed full of home inspiration. The Pennsylvania Convention Center is an enormous venue with plenty of space for all the elaborate displays and gardening vendors.

This year’s theme for the show is Flower Power. Best showcased throughout the International Floral Competition area, the displays range from pure artistry to a beautifully composed backyard. This is where the imagination of these floral designers is on full display. Some of the architectural pieces used in the displays can be purchased in the vendor area. This really makes these backyard dreams seems possible.

Also featured is a Home Gardening Hub. This area displays projects specifically aimed at the home gardener. Featured this year is front yard gardens, both flowers and vegetables. This is one of my favorite ideas. I have been trying to work my crops into the front yard and now I have some fantastic ideas on how this can be done. From micro-prairies to raised bed gardening, the inspiration is endless.

It’s almost impossible to leave the Philadelphia Flower Show without something in hand. There are flower shops and seed vendors as well as greenhouse dealers and garden architecture vendors. There is an entire vendor for Peonies! This year I bought some Dahlia tubers for the yard. My daughter bought some day old roses for $5. Truly a wonderful place for any gardener to shop.
